'Obama Hurt Himself Very Badly', political Consultant Roger Stone

Veteran political consultant Roger Stone believes that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama shot himself in the foot with his remarks that Republican rival John McCain's campaign angrily charged he served up a low blow against McCain's running mate Sarah Palin.

"He ought to know by now that when a presidential candidate says anything at all, it's around the globe in seconds, thanks to the Internet," he tells Newsmax TV.
"This comment came across as disrespectful, disdainful, below the belt; I think he hurt himself very badly," Stone says, referring to the remark ast a "serious misstep by Barack Obama."
Stone says when comparing resumes and accomplishments, Obama looks "increasingly thin."

"The other factor here frankly is that you can perpetuate a con on the American people over a short period of time, but Barack Obama has now been out there for two years running for president, formally, with nothing really of substance to say — a lot of great rhetoric, but no substance," he says.

"Candidly, his act is getting very thin; people are catching on to him. He cannot sustain this fraud for a long period of time," Stone says.

Obama has several areas of vulnerability, Stone says, pointing to his lack of experience both on foreign and domestic issues and his naivety.

"This is a candidate who supports, for example, driver's licenses for illegal immigrants," Stone says. He notes it was an idea first proposed by former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.

"This is an insane idea. We're going to give government-issued IDs to illegal immigrants that we can't keep track of and we don't know where they are, we can't account for them today. When a government-issued ID is necessary to rent a car, rent a truck, make a credit card, get on an airplane, all things terrorists need to do to mount another attack on this country," he says.

Stone says this illustrates Obama's total lack of realistic experience regarding terrorism and national security.

"I think national security and energy are the two issues that McCain must stress to take Obama down."
